Arctic Wildlife Safari with Snowmobile

The journey begins after a pick-up at your hotel, taking you to our starting point close to the Kalix River, outside of Kiruna. Our trail meanders through the birch forest and up onto the bare mountain. At the tree line, we have good chancesof spotting grouse in their full winter plumage. Once we pass the tree line, the wide open space will take your breath away. We continue our round trip on the Arctic tundra with chances to find traces of both wolverine and lynx, as the tracks in the snow tell stories about the past night’s hunting.

On this tour, we travel in the reindeer’s kingdom— harsh lands where reindeer have wandered since ancient times and where people and reindeer have lived in symbiosis to get protection, food, warmth, and life. Our guides are experts at finding tracks and sharing knowledge about our local history, the daily life of the modern reindeer herder, and the threats facing Arctic indigenous peoples. With luck, we might see capercaillie, the forest’s largest poultry, or a glimpse of the hare as it anxiously leaps off. Essential Tour Details and Logistics

Included in the tour are: transfer from Kiruna, warm clothes, helmet, snowmobile, guide, and a late lunch featuring typical Sámi dishes for the season. We recommend you bring your camera with charged batteries. The route is always adjusted after weather and snow conditions. You may purchase a supplement of SEK 1,200 p/p for your own snowmobile or share a snowmobile (2 per snowmobile) unless you purchase the supplement. Please note:  Guests participate in our activities at their own responsibility and are obliged to follow the safety instructions assigned by the guide. We advise our guests to arrange their own travel and accident insurances. In event of an accident on our snowmobile tours an excess of maximum SEK 10.000 per incident/snowmobile will be charged to the person who was driving the damaged snowmobile.
